Welcome

Welcome!  My name is Jen Morrow and I am the head director for the Deer Escorts and dance teacher at South Campus. I was raised in Friendswood, TX where I started dancing at the age of 5.  I focused strictly on ballet for 8 years.  I attended Clear Brook High School and that is where I realized my passion for drill team.  I was a Jr. Lieutenant my junior year and Captain my senior year.  After graduating from high school, I auditioned for and became a World Famous Kilgore College Rangerette.  I was a Swingster (a selected elite performance group) and then had the honor or serving as Lieutenant my sophomore year.  

 

After Kilgore, I attended the University of North Texas where I earned my BS in Kinesiology.  While living in Dallas, I had the opportunity to work for Mike Miller and Associates where I helped coordinate and assist with choreography for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade dance routines, along with the Cotton Bowl pre-game/halftime show.  I assisted a drill team for 5 years and then started directing my own team in 2006. I've directed in Plano ISD, Lewisville ISD and Lovejoy ISD.  While directing, I also teach dance/drill team camps for Encore Creative Productions (co-owned by Lisa Fortenberry & Shelley Wayne).

 

I have my Masters of Arts degree in dance from Texas Woman’s University.  While in graduate school, my focus was to maintain to explore and develop strategies to enrich the education of drill teams.  It’s my students who give me the perseverance and inspiration of what drill team is and can become.  

 

I am married to a history teacher who also teaches in DPISD and we have two daughters who attend school in DPISD.
