Hello, my name is Vickie Hillier-Pena, and I teach under "Hillier" (my maiden name) to honor my paternal grandfather that was also an English teacher. I was born in Washington DC and grew up all over as an "army brat". My first language was Mandarin and I'm still fluent to this day. In fact, my mom refuses to have conversations in anything but her native tongue. I have been a teacher for over 20 years, and this will actually be year 18 of teaching 9th grade English. Ninth graders are my heart, and with God's grace, I plan on hopefully retiring from this grade level, one day. My biggest hope is to imbue a love of learning into my students! DPAC English will be a challenge, but I am happily here, ready, willing, and able to help. Please never hesitate to reach out to me, nothing is "too trivial", and I will always do my best to rise to the occasion.
